The local plan consultation period has also come to an end and I put in two responses, both relating to Farringdon.
I opposed the idea of building on the Orchards in lower Farringdon because it would damage the rural nature of the village and two appeal inspectors had already turned down this site.
I supported the changes in wording about the Farringdon Mill site. The changes were very minor but registering my support means that I can speak at the public enquiry if the wording is challenged. The really important thing is that the plan acknowledges that the capacity of the village is limited because there is no school, no shops and so on. Therefore, if housing is to be at a higher density (as the government insists in PPG3) then it must cover a smaller area and only 35 houses should be allowed on the site. The plan also covers the access to the industrial part of the site and I have argued for access at the northern end of the village so that the new junction can be designed to slow traffic down as it enters the village.
